The arm.ID.illo Story

The idea behind Arm-ID-illo bandz came from the real life "lost child" experiences of the company founders. "There’s no worse feeling than losing your child, and we know in the world we live in today, its unavoidable," explains Jennifer Tiberia. "It became our mission to create a product that could quickly solve the problem, and create a community of support to give parents and kids more confidence in public places and crowded environments."

Jennifer and Tony’s Story

Held in the middle of the town square in Marietta, GA, the annual "Taste of Marietta" festival is a fun event filled with food, music, crafts and games for the whole family. And having fun was exactly what Jennifer, Tony and their two sons Nicolas and Gianlucca had been doing at the event two years ago until they lost their son in the crowd.

The family had been enjoying the afternoon sitting on a blanket laughing and talking with a group of friends. Every so often throughout the day, 4-year-old Nicolas would hear the whistle of the train that ran through the square and grab his mother’s hand to race down to the tracks to watch it pass by. 2-year-old Gianlucca didn’t seem interested in the train and every time his mother and brother ran off he would continue playing underneath a folding table set up near his father.

When the whistle sounded yet again and Nicolas grabbed Jennifer’s hand she took a quick visual checked to confirm Gianlucca was still happily playing in the same spot. Off she ran with Nicolas, only this time when she returned 5 minutes later, Gianlucca was gone. Of course, Tony had noticed the toddler missing but thought Jennifer had taken him with her.

Immediately Tony and Jennifer started searching thought the crowd, asking people, "Have you seen a little boy?" Of course, everyone wanted to know what he was wearing. Jennifer racked her brain, but she could not remember. She knew that was one of the things parents were supposed to do – dress their child in bright colors that are easy to spot and make a mental note of their outfit so you can describe it. She had done none of these things and was sick to her stomach. There were so many people and it was such a big place, how were they supposed to find their son?

Jennifer remembered a guest services table across the square and raced over to where it was set up. Just as she arrived, two teenage girls also showed up at the same time with Gianlucca in tow. The toddler had no idea that his parents were looking for him, or even that he was lost. "We didn’t seen any parents around him, so we brought him here," explained the girls.

Thankfully, Gianlucca was only missing for 20 minutes, but both Jennifer and Tony realized just how lucky they were to find him so quickly. Ever since that day, the couple has been searching for a real solution that alleviate the hopeless, terrifying feeling parents have when they lose a child who is too young to have the resources to find his way back home on his own.
